Prison Ministry
We are involved with ministering to the lives of prisoners behind bars, their families, and the aftercare to help with the transition from prison into the community again.
Pastor Larry has been involved with Bill Glass Champions for Life, since 1982. In 2000, Pastor Larry became involved with Prison Fellowship which is directed by Chuck Colson. Larry also works closely with Prison Fellowship's regional director Mark Hubbell.
Every Tuesday Larry goes to Oregon State Penitentiary and conducts a program called TDR or Transformational Discipleship and Reformation. He helps prepare prisoners that are within three years of their release date to become men that are growing in the likeness of Jesus Christ. These are Christian men that have done the homework and scripture memorization that it takes to grow in Christ. They have embraced a discipline in their lives that takes them through a transformation of the heart.
Within six months of release, they are connected with a Prison Fellowship Aftercare team on the outside that will mentor them through the transition of their release back into the community. They are assisted with the difficulties in making that transition.
Here at Calvary Chapel, we are involved with aftercare team for Polk and Marion county, and are joined together with other churches in the community.

..."for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me a drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me." Then the righteous will answer Him, saying "Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You a drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?" And the King will answer and say to them, "Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me." -Matthew 25:35-40
